Russian authorities are denying lawyers access to the imprisoned opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza, intensifying fears for his safety and well-being.
On July 4, 2024, Russian authorities abruptly transferred Vladimir Kara-Murza from a penal colony to the Regional Hospital No. 11 of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) in the Omsk Region. The Russian opposition politician is serving a 25-year prison sentence for criticizing Putin’s war in Ukraine.
On June 3-4, 2024, the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), in collaboration with the National Endowment for Democracy, the U.S. Russia Foundation, and Free Russia Foundation, hosted the Washington Dialogue.
