On December 2, 2019, Free Russia Foundation marks its fifth birthday.
In our first five years we have:
- Provided training, legal and humanitarian support to hundreds of civil society leaders, independent politicians, defenders and journalists;
- Linked up thousands of activists and organizations to coordinate efforts toward our shared vision of a democratic Russia;
- Investigated, analyzed and publicized the truth about Putin’s regime and the danger it poses not only to the future of Russia, but to free democratic societies worldwide;
- Informed key decision-makers in Europe and the United States in support of a smarter Russia policy.
With a rapidly-expanding network of regional offices and partnerships, we have earned a much-cherished reputation as a global embassy for pro-democracy Russians. We will continue to open doors and provide high-profile platforms in the West to these courageous men and women. We take our growing numbers as a confirmation that our work matters and we are on the right path.
We are very proud of our achievements, but today is not a date to celebrate. The real celebration will come on the day when there is no more need for Free Russia Foundation and when our organization becomes irrelevant. The day when the rights, dignity and hope are restored to the Russian people.
