Dear colleagues and supporters, the team of Free Russia Foundation is happy to announce that we have received our 501 (c) 3 status, and we have been recognized as a Public Charity by the Internal Revenue Service of the United States.
It is really big news for us.
For a young nonprofit like ours, it’s always difficult to make the first steps, not only in terms of delivering our mission but also in building a sustainable organization, finding donors and implementing our programs.
For the Free Russia Foundation, as an organization led by a community of motivated Russian activists and policy experts, it is important to do our work properly and be effective. Last year we took part in high-profile advocacy campaigns #FreeSavchenko and #PutinKills, raising the voice of truth and fighting against propaganda. We worked with Russian diaspora groups in the U.S., informed Western policy makers about the events in our country and supported activists inside Russia.
We are thankful to everyone who believed in us from the moment of our launch. We thank our institutional, private and individual donors who supported our activities. And now we can finally say that all of the previous and future donations to our Foundation are tax deductible, charitable gifts in the United States.
We have never been afraid to fight for the democratic future of Russia and for rights and freedoms of our people. Now we can say that we don’t have any bureaucratic barriers to operate at our full capacity.
